FRIENDS OF THE BIG BOG

Dear Supporters,

The creation of Big Bog State Recreation Area is a direct result of a grass-roots initiative, which is rapidly becoming reality through cooperative partnerships involving numerous individuals, local civic groups, the township, several cities, the county, state agencies, the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians, and various funding partners.

The cooperators envision the Big Bog State Recreation Area as a catalyst that enhances eco-tourism for the entire State of Minnesota, and enables significant regional economic development opportunities.

During the next legislative session, a bill will be introduced to appropriate capitol bonding for the Big Bog State Recreation Area Visitors Center. Bonding for the Visitors Center is an investment in the future of eco-tourism related economy in northern Minnesota. The non-consumptive, multiple-use of the natural resources provides long-term protection of the largest and best representations of patterned peatlands in the contiguous United States.

The cooperators partnership assures representation of a broad spectrum of interests, all working together towards the common goal of sustainable natural resources utilization, and significant long-term economic recovery for the region. This project is truly a grass-roots initiative that has significant potential impacts for the State of Minnesota.

We need your help in making this State Recreation Area a reality.  Friends of the Big Bog membership brochure. Please consider making a tax-deductible financial contribution or providing a letter of support. Local support is very important to the legislature. As a contributor or supporter, your name or business name will accompany us to the legislature and be shared with them as people supportive of this project. You will also be recognized at a later date once the center is built.

Thank You!
